The fast-tracked packages represent part of Labor's broader aged care reforms, ensuring continuity of care during the transition to the new system. These packages help older people remain in their homes and communities with dignity whilst the government implements once-in-a-generation changes to aged care.

Beyond the 20,000 fast-tracked packages, the government committed to allocating a further 63,000 new packages before the end of the 2025-26 financial year, bringing the total to 83,000 Support at Home places. The delivery of these packages demonstrates the government's commitment to meeting growing demand for home care services. The Support at Home program, which commenced on 1 November 2025, provides a higher level of care and support designed to help older Australians live at home for longer, maintaining connections to loved ones and their communities.
